Work description
The formal drawing of the artwork “From the Beginning” depicts three interconnected Celtic knots. The first knot is open at the center and connects with the overarching structures. Starting from zero, this knot develops into interwoven lines, squares, cubes, and bands, which seem to have a beginning but no end.
The Celtic knot represents our ancestors’ concept of infinity, unity, and the connection of everything in a continuous cycle, similar to the idea of eternity and the eternal cycle of birth, life, and death. This symbol embodies the interplay of natural forces, the balance of opposites, and the infinity of life. Amidst these thoughts lies a powerful realization: we are not alone but part of an infinite chain of ancestors. Our existence is inextricably linked to the past and, therefore, to the future.
The Celtic knot of our ancestors is a symbol of the deepest connection with the universe, an amulet for protection and luck. Embedded in this essence, our being is an unending force of infinity that dwells within our souls. This instills confidence in life because this knowledge makes us aware that we are part of a human family.
The work “From the Beginning” is a depiction of infinity in an eternal cycle of birth, life, and death — a hymn to the connection with the universe of our ancestors, an unending force that permeates us all. And with this energy, it is also the beginning of a new world.
